American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, the largest ethnic medical organization in the country, has made Childhood Obesity its national theme this year.
As part of the group’s pledge to educate the public about ill effects of obesity and promote longterm management strategies, the organization planned an educational and entertainment program at Westbury Music Fair on Long Island last month.
The Live Light Live Right program was delighted to have the opportunity to attend the event. LLLR staff provided information about our program, its commitment towards the community and the research articles the program has published. We provided education materials promoting weight management, healthy eating and lifestyle choices. Like at many of the other events we attend, we distributed water bottles, stress balls and bags to the attendees. LLLR members were interviewed for a program about obesity that will run on Sahara TV.
Not only did the conference include lectures about obesity risks for children, renowned musicians and singers including Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendosa performed.
